The art of discharge consents
With the Environment Agency’s focus on environmental compliance and good practice on construction sites, we have noticed an increased requirement for robust construction-phase planning. This includes the management of surface water within the temporary works phase of developments and infrastructure projects. RSK Geosciences supports a number of clients in the formation of construction-phase strategies, including the management of surface water. Management and discharge of surface water has become a key consideration within the phasing of works and construction.
RSK Geosciences Principal Consultant Jonathan Pearson will guide us through permits and consenting options with respect to construction water discharge, with a focus on the Environment Agency permit system and the key timings for permit applications, together with the data required to support the application.

Jonathan is a principal consultant at RSK Geosciences. He is a Chartered Scientist and a Chartered Water and Environmental Manager with over 15 years’ experience in contaminated land consultancy and hydrogeology. Jonathan has gained his experience in environmental management, environmental permitting and management of surface water through a number of major projects. Within his role at RSK Geosciences, Jonathan delivers environmental management training to a number of clients.
