Our expertise
Our design and engineering consulting services are often delivered within broader multidisciplinary projects, drawing upon expertise from across RSK Group. This integrated approach allows us to provide seamless support in project planning, design and execution.
Our civil and structural design and engineering teams develop innovative, robust solutions that enhance both infrastructure resilience and environmental integration, ensuring functionality and long-term environmental sustainability. With a focus on solving complex infrastructure challenges, RSK provides comprehensive civil and structural expertise across every stage of project delivery, from early stage concept development and feasibility studies to final compliance.
Our expertise includes the use of advanced structural design and assessments, helping to extend the life of existing assets through expert analysis and innovative solutions. We design and implement sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) to manage urban run-off, reduce flood risks and improve water management. Our bridge design and analysis services ensure structural integrity and durability, creating safe and long-lasting connections. In transportation infrastructure, we are committed to designing and engineering safe, efficient and sustainable highways and urban networks that support growing communities. We also integrate renewable energy solutions into the design of new and existing infrastructure, supporting the transition towards cleaner energy sources and helping clients reduce their carbon footprint.
Beyond engineering execution, our design consulting approach ensures that every project is functional, efficient and aligned with environmental goals from the outset. Our construction monitoring and project management services ensure that projects adhere to design specifications, timelines and budgets. Meanwhile, our building surveying and compliance services guarantee that all projects meet health, safety and environmental regulations, safeguarding both infrastructure and the wider community.
RSK’s environmental consulting services deliver sustainable solutions that align development needs with responsible environmental management. Working across diverse sectors, we ensure that every project incorporates design strategies that enhance sustainability while minimising environmental impact.
A core element of our service offering lies in environmental impact assessments (EIA), which predict potential project impacts, evaluate alternatives and define mitigation measures. An EIA provides a structured approach to identifying, evaluating and managing both positive and negative impacts, giving stakeholders confidence in the project’s environmental credentials and compliance.
Alongside EIAs, we provide a wide range of environmental and design assessments, including flood risk evaluations, asbestos surveys and air quality monitoring. Each assessment is designed to help clients minimise risk, comply with regulations and ensure project success.
We emphasise opportunities to integrate nature-based solutions, harnessing ecological strategies to manage risks, restore natural habitats and build resilience against climate impacts. By aligning development with nature’s capabilities, we help create infrastructure that delivers valuable long-term benefits.
Understanding ground conditions is essential to project success. RSK’s geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering and design services provide the expertise needed to ensure structural stability, deliver long-term savings by addressing site-specific challenges and mitigate risks from the outset.
Our specialist teams conduct geotechnical investigations and foundation design, assessing soil properties to inform safe and efficient construction approaches.
Below ground, our subsurface risk assessments and earthworks planning help identify and mitigate potential constraints, such as contamination or legacy structures, ensuring optimal foundation and infrastructure design. Above ground, we carry out slope stability assessments and landslide mitigation, evaluating potential slope failures and implementing strategies to protect infrastructure and surrounding communities from geological hazards.
At every stage of development, our ground engineering and design expertise ensures long-term stability and resilience, even in the most challenging environments, supporting safe and seamless construction processes.
RSK’s mechanical and electrical design and engineering teams create efficient, forward-thinking systems that meet the evolving demands of modern infrastructure while emphasising safety and environmental sustainability.
Our engineers integrate mechanical and electrical design services from concept to completion, ensuring practical and future-ready solutions across a diverse range of sectors. Using building information modelling (BIM), we enhance design efficiency, increase productivity and streamline compliance processes.
Our design consulting approach ensures that solutions are tailored to specific building and operational requirements, balancing functionality, performance and ease of maintenance.
Through collaboration across RSK Group, we advise and consult on automation and control systems, industrial and process engineering, electrical safety assessments and compliance. Our power generation and distribution design solutions optimise energy efficiency while ensuring secure and reliable networks.
With significant experience in low-energy and low-carbon-impact design, we develop solutions that minimise environmental impact while remaining simple, cost-effective and easy to use and maintain.
RSK’s asset integrity and process engineering services are crucial for maintaining the reliability, efficiency and compliance of operational assets across diverse industries, including energy and marine sectors. We provide innovative solutions that extend asset life, optimise performance and ensure safety and sustainability throughout the life cycle of critical infrastructure.
Our teams of skilled engineers and design consultants evaluate asset integrity by identifying potential risks and implementing strategies to mitigate them. We conduct assessments to enhance the lifespan and performance of critical assets, ensuring that they remain reliable and efficient throughout their operational life. We evaluate and assess whole processes to optimise performance across assets and systems and streamline operations to reduce costs and maximise resource utilisation.
In the energy sector, we provide offshore and onshore design and engineering solutions, including late-life asset strategies and decommissioning planning. These approaches help clients reduce financial and environmental risks while ensuring regulatory compliance and operational integrity.
At RSK, our goal is to help clients achieve maximum benefit from their assets by combining innovative design consulting with engineering expertise. In addition to asset integrity assessments, we advise on and perform structural modifications, upgrade designs and operational efficiency enhancements, ensuring assets meet evolving demands while remaining compliant and cost-effective.
