RSK is one of the most modern, safe and cost-effective companies for working at height on difficult-to-access areas. Using our rope access specialists, bespoke equipment and specialist access platforms, we can reach restricted areas without the need for heavy equipment or scaffolding, which saves time and money for our diverse client base. Moreover, because we employ multiskilled and highly trained technicians, we are one of the UK’s leading providers of this methodology.
Extensive specialist equipment and services
Using techniques originally developed for caving and abseiling, our rope-access experts from across the group, including CAN and Up and Under, can skilfully navigate around tall and complex structures, including bridges, towers, high-rise buildings, Grade 1 listed buildings, piers, jetties and harbours. With a truly multidisciplined team, we are equipped to work with rope, specialist access cradles and bespoke equipment. We are trained to work in confined spaces, at extreme heights, engage in rescue cover and even work on or in water.
Implementing the right strategy for each client
When a client approaches us with a challenge, we meet it from the project’s outset with our 30 years’ experience. We understand how important it is to use specialist teams or equipment or resolve challenges regarding working at extreme heights or confined spaces. We bring the most cost-effective, least-disruptive solutions for our clients and all parties involved.
Decades of specialist training and our nice services
RSK is expertly primed to tackle everything from inspection reports and surveys to system installations, maintenance and cleaning. Whatever the job, we use all major types of access and equipment to complete a task and ensure that it is risk assessed and in compliance with relevant regulations. Our UK-wide team is trained to use mobile elevated working platforms and tower scaffolds and is trained through the IPAF and PASMA schemes. We were one of the first companies to introduce industrial rope access to the UK and have been at the forefront of the industry ever since. Owing to our many years of innovation, we have developed and manufactured bespoke equipment for use with and without rope access, which enables us to offer a range of access systems and rigging solutions.
Whether it is accessing tunnels, chimneys, drainage systems or shafts, our highly skilled and trained operatives can work in all confined spaces. The nature of these structures means that access is often only possible via specialist rope access techniques. Our personnel have also completed comprehensive City & Guilds training.
Our ability to work in or on the water allows us to bypass significant obstacle for many projects. We provide innovative, cost-effective solutions to work in rivers, canals, lakes and coastal structures.
Engaging group-wide strengths
RSK’s full scope of specialist access solutions ensures that we provide the most effective solutions to our clients across all sectors. By engaging with the wider RSK group, we can work through all stages of a project from pre-planning to consent, including an initial structural inspection. This gives our clients peace of mind that their projects are in specialist hands.
All our work is backed by ISO 9001 (Quality), IS0 45001 (Health and Safety), RISQS (Network Rail pre-qualification) and Investors in People (Commitment to Staff Development) standards. Our choice of equipment and methods to conduct tasks is always risk assessed, and we ensure full compliance with regulations. We offer the services and skills to ensure projects are completed to client-specific specifications.
We are a full member of the Industrial Rope Access Trade Association (IRATA), and all our rope-access personnel are IRATA qualified. We strictly follow the IRATA International Code of Practice and have decades of experience meeting project needs. We can adapt to working on bridges, airports, masts, cliff and slopes, shafts and tunnels.
Specialist access cradles and bespoke equipment
All our specialised equipment is manufactured to be lightweight and quick to set up. Work can be carried out quickly and efficiently, which ultimately reduces costs. All systems are designed, manufactured and CE marked by our in-house engineers, which allows us to adapt equipment or quickly design and fabricate bespoke equipment to suit your project’s needs. Specialist products include the CAN-Span Cradle System, the CANtilever System and the CAN-Beam System.
Whether it is accessing tunnels, chimneys, drainage systems or shafts, our operatives can work in most confined spaces. The very nature of these structures means that access is often only possible via specialist rope access techniques. Our confined space services include third-party access supervision and high-risk working. Our confined-spaces team can deal with partially flooded structures, and personnel can remove water from structures for cleaning or inspection if required.
Following the Confined Spaces Regulations 1997, whenever confined space work is undertaken, a rescue team is required, subject to risk assessment. If an operative is injured in a confined space, a suitable means of prompt extraction, rescue and recovery is required. RSK regularly deploys confined space rescue teams that provide a rescue cover service with the ability to retrieve casualties safely and efficiently.
