Railway lines are the arteries that help to connect nations: throughout Europe alone, 350,000 km of railway lines transport capital and goods, encourage tourism and shorten people’s journeys. The rail network in Great Britain is a national asset with a vast physical presence and which many people use daily. It has almost 16,000 km of track, serves almost 3000 individual stations, and the industry directly employs about 240,000 people. Demand for rail services has more than doubled over the last 20 years, increasing faster than for any other transport mode.

RSK offers a wealth of experience across the sector. Our services are used across mainline rail, freight, light rail and high speed. We help clients to maintain and enhance the natural and built environment and have worked on several large rail infrastructure projects. Our expertise covers all aspects of environmental consultancy and contracting, from geotechnical surveys and investigations, through to on-site remediation contracting works.

Our multifaceted range of services includes detailed ground investigations, including environmental and social impact assessments, environmental surveying, and stakeholder communications. Our earthworks-related services extend to structures and buildings and include ground assessments, geophysical surveying, contaminated land remediation and expert witness services. We also provide environmental, health and safety management and geomatics that includes land and aerial surveying, photography and GIS.

A class above

RSK is fully committed to health and safety and constantly strives to evolve and remain at the forefront of industry trends and technology.

Our clients seek to deliver projects on time and budget and know that it is important to leave a positive impact on the local environments and communities surrounding them. A major concern regards land: what’s underneath it, on it, over it, how to access it, how to purchase it, how to remediate it and how to enhance it from a habitat perspective.

Enduring relationships

We pride ourselves on our ability to get a project completed safely and efficiently. We have more than two decades of experience in the sector and have developed a wide range of services specifically to help identify, avoid, minimise, mitigate or offset potential challenges facing our clients. RSK is committed to collaboration and our collective transition to an economy fuelled by renewable sources.
