Local Authorities

Local authorities oversee and are responsible for a range of vital services for people and businesses in defined areas. This includes functions such as social care, schools, housing and planning, and waste collection, and lesser known ones such as licensing, business support, registrar services and pest control. Perhaps the most common type of local authority people encounter is that of local councils elected by the public in local elections. This sector works to agree and deliver local priorities within their budgets.

Providing cost-effective solutions

RSK provides a wide range of environmental, engineering, technical consultancy and specialist contracting services to public-sector bodies such as local authorities. We understand that they need to be able to deliver services where and when required without overstretching the budget. Much of our work is awarded via framework agreements, and we hold numerous agreements across multiple disciplines with local authorities and regional procurement bodies.

A one-stop shop

Our strength when providing services to local authorities is our ability to provide a single-source solution across a very wide range of technical disciplines and by providing both consultancy and specialist contracting services from a network of permanent offices throughout the UK and Europe. We strive to provide best value for money with our services and public accountability. All the services that fall under our umbrella, such as community need assessments, development plans, environmental management, architecture, building surveying and more, can be utilised whenever and wherever needed.

Recognising potential obstacles

We know that changes in government policy, spending and budget restrictions can have negative impacts on the services that local authorities are able to offer to communities. Therefore, we do our best to work with local authorities to provide realistic solutions to their problems within the budget they have given us. Where we see opportunities to deliver savings or identify unnecessary work, we raise this this and agree a suitable response. This helps us build relationships as a trusted advisor to local groups.
