Social

Place employees and communities at the heart of sustainable growth

Taking care of our employees, our clients, people within our supply chain and the communities in which we work remains our priority.

What we focus on:

Health and safety

prioritising health and safety in all that we do.

Inclusion and wellbeing

building a diverse and inclusive workplace and promote the wellbeing of our employees.

Social impact

making a measurable positive contribution to the communities in which we work.

Human rights

respecting and upholding human rights across our value chain.

Health and safety

Maintaining an unwavering commitment to health and safety is one of RSK’s nine guiding principles. We aim to be a leader in health and safety by striving to achieve zero harm to people.

RSK Group has an established SHEQ-MS and is committed to continuous improvement of its SHEO performance, which is reflected in a set of annual objectives and targets and associated management strategy, in line with our ISO certifications: 45001:2018, 9001:2015 and 14001:2015. Our SHEO-MS underpins our communication across the group, embedding health and safety in every stage of our work.

Our SHEQ-MS also includes our nine Golden Safety Rules, which address the primary topics that have the greatest impact on the safety of our workforce.

Inclusion and wellbeing

We seek to be an inclusive employer, actively celebrating diverse talent and providing equal opportunities for all. We work to remove barriers to progression and embed equality across recruitment, career development, workplace culture and benefits. Read more about workplace culture and career development in Life at RSK.

Wellbeing is central to sustaining a healthy, productive workforce. We support mental, physical, financial, environmental and social wellbeing through established initiatives, including six employee networks, people champions and mental health first aiders. These are reinforced by group-wide campaigns and a central online hub offering resources, training and access to external support.

We promote entrepreneurship, value individual contributions, support development and celebrate diversity across the business. This culture is recognised through initiatives such as the RSK People Awards and RSK Innovation Awards. We strengthen our employer brand by continuously reviewing our practices and listening to feedback across all markets, including through our annual employee survey.

Social impact

We seek to maximise the positive impact of our work on the communities in which we operate through both client projects and wider community engagement. By embedding social value into project delivery, we create local employment, support local and diverse suppliers, partner with voluntary, community and social enterprises (VCSE) and small and medium-sized enterprises (SME), and improve access to opportunities for disadvantaged groups, often delivering benefits beyond contractual requirements.

We achieve additional social value through skills development, education and employability initiatives, including training, apprenticeships, graduate schemes and educational partnerships, alongside targeted community investment.

Interest rate savings from our sustainability-linked loan are reinvested in global sustainability projects, translating sustainability performance into tangible employee engagement and lasting community impact.

Human rights

We are committed to respecting and promoting human rights across our value chain. Our aims are to raise awareness and promote the importance of respecting and advocating for human rights and taking reasonable steps to prevent harm.

We have undertaken a group-wide human rights risk and gap assessment, enhancing our ability to identify, prevent and address adverse human rights impacts. This has guided a phased programme of work to continue strengthening our human rights due diligence within our own operations and supply chain, while maximising positive influence.

Impact assessments and due diligence form an important part of early project engagement, including examining the local context, identifying and addressing possible risks and areas of concern, such as human rights, and listening to and addressing the needs and rights of vulnerable and Indigenous communities.

With our RSK Group Human Rights and Modern Slavery Policy, we seek to achieve consistency in our approach across the group, clearly outlining our responsibilities, commitments and expectations, including details on due diligence and remediation processes.
