The way we run our business is integral to achieving RSKβs ambitions, hence βpromoting the concept of sustainability in all that we doβ is one of RSKβs nine guiding principles.
What we focus on:
Business management
growing our business responsibly, investing in and attracting investment from organisations that share our values, while establishing effective governance structures to embed sustainability in all that we do.
Value chain
sharing responsibility for social and environmental impacts in our value chain with our clients and suppliers. We want to work in partnership with others for transformative positive impact.
Business management
The RSK Group board is responsible for developing the groupβs sustainability strategy as part of the broader business strategy, overseeing corporate governance and monitoring KPIs. This is supported by RSKβs chief scientist, our board-level sponsor of sustainability activities.
Delivering on our annual targets and 2030 ambitions depends on the concerted effort of our more than 200 businesses and over 17,000 employees. This is why we focus on engagement across the group, equipping our businesses and employees with the tools they need to drive performance improvement in the areas that matter locally. We also want to recognise the great work happening across the group and encourage the sharing of ideas and innovation, so we will continue to promote and develop the RSK Innovation and People Awards schemes.
Value chain
Alongside our commitment to mainstream sustainability within RSK, we recognise that, as a global leader in the delivery of environmental and engineering solutions, the most significant impact we make is through the project work we deliver for our clients.
Our global supply chain of more than 17,000 suppliers plays a critical role in our environmental and social impact. We seek to work with suppliers that uphold our values on ethical conduct, environmental stewardship and social responsibility and are committed to working in partnership to improve performance. For example:
- We encourage our suppliers to set science-based targets in line with our near-term science-based targets and to support our collective efforts in the transition to a net-zero economy.
- We facilitate knowledge sharing and support our suppliers on their own sustainability journey through our series of freely available training with the Supply Chain Sustainability School. We have also extended this training to upskill our own workforce, offering CPD-accredited training on topics such as carbon literacy, sustainable procurement and modern slavery.

Recognising the importance of responsible investment, RSKβs default pension provider, Aegon, has made significant progress in its environmental, social and governance (ESG) journey. Alongside this, RSK has engaged independent advisers 75point3 to oversee pension scheme performance and ensure a continued focus on sustainable investment options. This year, we will continue to highlight the growing impact of ESG improvements and encourage colleagues to engage with the sustainable choices available.
