Second Nature

RSK’s 2030 sustainability strategy

Since our inception in 1989, sustainability has been at the heart of how we do business, with “promoting the concept of sustainability in all that we do” being one of our core guiding principles.

In December 2023, we launched our latest sustainability strategy, Second Nature, to shape our sustainability journey to 2030. This strategy continues to evolve as it embodies our commitment to mainstream sustainability, making it the instinctive way RSK operates across all its businesses, its value chain and beyond.

Following the double materiality assessment (DMA) we completed in 2025, we have further refined our strategy to continue prioritising our efforts where we can deliver the greatest impact, including a continued focus on social value and climate.

Our three core themes

Second Nature is built around three core themes (Environment, Social and Governance), which reflect the responsibilities that we owe as a business to our widest group of stakeholders – our people, our value chain, society and the environment – and how these are supported by appropriate finance and governance structures.

Environment

Our ambition: Minimise our adverse impacts and restore the natural environment

Our business, like all businesses, depends on the natural environment and has the potential to impact it. By understanding these impacts, we can develop effective strategies to make efficient use of all resources and optimise circular economy initiatives to reduce our carbon emissions and to protect nature.

Social

Our ambition: Place employees and communities at the heart of sustainable growth

Taking care of our employees, our clients, people within our supply chain and the communities in which we work remains our priority.

Governance

Our ambition: Embed resilience across our business and value chain

The way we run our business is integral to achieving RSK’s ambitions, hence “promoting the concept of sustainability in all that we do” is one of RSK’s nine guiding principles.

Achieving our 2030 goals

Across our family of 200+ businesses, there is inevitably variation in our achievements and the maturity of our approach to sustainability. As a group-wide strategy, Second Nature outlines the areas on which we need to focus to help all businesses to enhance their sustainability performance. We are also looking to those businesses that are more advanced to help us raise the ambition across the group.

Every year we set targets and actions for the following year. This enables us to remain agile to both the changing sustainability landscape and the evolution of our business, while focusing on longer-term ambitions.

Delivering on our 2030 ambitions requires concerted effort across the group, which is why driving ownership and consistency of sustainability performance across all businesses is a key thread running through our Second Nature strategy.
