Based in the UK, TerrAffix specialises in habitat restoration using bioengineering techniques for slope stability, soil improvement and management, including soil remediation. The business uses pyrolysis technology to produce sequestered forms of carbon as biochar for use in land remediation and biosolid management projects.

The company has developed a range of innovative products using sustainably sourced natural fibres, biochars and soil additives to address the challenges of soil erosion control, dust issues and vegetation establishment on difficult sites. One of its specialisms is the production of a range of hydroseeders that can be used to deal with advanced soil erosion, soil improvement and remediation of contaminated soil, depleted soil and engineered fill materials, enhanced vegetation establishment and dust suppression using a specialist formulation that binds fine particles.

Projects for railways, mining and roads can include a contaminated land remediation solution used to establish vegetation cover on sites of historical heavy metal and metalliferous pollution, in particular at mines and on metal processing sites. Solutions can also involve the establishment of vegetation within roadside and attenuation swales. They can be used for bank stabilisation and vegetation establishment and control on weak slopes that consist of poor soil, such as those found near roadsides, and for soil improvement and vegetation establishment on steep, dry slopes with little or no soil.

TerrAffix also offers a range of other services, such as peat and wetland management and restoration, and is a framework contractor for Natural Resources Wales, researching restoration techniques that enable the natural function and process of peatlands to re-establish. The company is also able to provide solutions for invasive, non-native plant species and has extensive experience of the identification, planning, control and disposal of terrestrial and semi-aquatic species.
