Octavius Infrastructure
Octavius Infrastructure, established as a stand-alone business in 2022 with over 700 employees and operating throughout the UK, is a leading Tier 1 infrastructure delivery partner in complex, safety-critical works across the rail and highways networks, specialising in programme management and engineering integration and coordinating a highly trusted supply chain to deliver technically demanding projects. Navitas Engineering is a wholly owned subsidiary of Octavius following its acquisition in 2023, specialising in the design of railway electrification systems.
Octavius’s core project delivery expertise is underpinned by a focus on efficiency, productivity and innovative engineering and is complemented by a proven self-delivery capability through the Regional Civil Engineering business and the provision of electrification engineering and design expertise through wholly owned subsidiary business Navitas Engineering.
Octavius’s highways services play a pivotal role in delivering a wide range of enhancements and improvements to the UK’s road network, including repairs and strengthening, maintenance, earthworks, structures and ancillary works. Designs, specifications and methodology integrate modern methods of construction along with information gained from wider consultation with operators and maintainers.
Highways services are wide and varied, covering improvements to existing assets and the design and construction of new infrastructure. Octavius also has many capabilities in the public realm and can help to elevate and upgrade public infrastructure. Services include improving street lighting, traffic control, drainage improvements, public art and features, creation or improvement of multi-use games areas and playparks, street furniture and surface replacement.
Octavius rail services range from the complete design and construction of new station facilities, including ‘Access For All’ accessibility improvements, to platform renewals, structural enhancements and electrification and plant works, all of which ensure the safe and reliable operation of the UK’s critical rail infrastructure.
The business has proven expertise in developing multi-modal transport interchanges and car park solutions that successfully integrate both travel modes and support local economic growth strategies. With a range of solutions, including foundation-less car parks, Octavius works with clients to consider the needs of both network operators and users. Asset management services are also provided to enhance network resilience and performance, with asset surveys undertaken to inform the design and construction of robust solutions, utilising a range of approaches such as drone surveys and 3D digital mapping.
The business has long-standing relationships with key customers such as Network Rail, National Highways and Transport for London and has a rich portfolio of over 30 frameworks. These include a presence in every Network Rail region in England and Wales, including the industry-leading Southern Renewals Enterprise for Electrification and Plant, as well as frameworks with National Highways, the M25 Motorway Network Improvements Works Call Off Framework Agreement (COFA) for Connect Plus and places on local and regional authority transport frameworks nationwide.
