Non Destructive Testing Services (NDT) was formed in 1990 and offers services nationally from its base in Nottingham. It is a specialist in pile integrity testing, static pile maintained load testing and dynamic load testing. Working predominantly within the construction sector, it provides a wide range of testing services.

Pile integrity services provided by NDT include testing of continuous flight auger (CFA), large bore and minipile foundations. The sonic echo or transient dynamic response methods of testing are employed, which give fast, economic and reliable results. NDT specialists can carry out acoustic surveys of piles, followed by analysis and assessment to enable the rectification of anomalies that may occur. Reports are provided to show impedance variations clearly.

Dynamic pile testing, using the recognised and proven SIMBAT system, can be offered, to observe resulting forces and motions in the vicinity of pile heads. The results of this type of test can then be used to predict static behaviour of test piles. This method of testing uses a drop hammer, with gauges bonded to the pile to measure strain.

Static load testing is available to test the performance of piles subjected to a predetermined load. Two options are provided, reaction frame static load testing, which is used for anchor pile design requirements, and Kentledge static load testing, which is suitable where anchor piles cannot be installed.

Vibration monitoring services are offered to assist in the detection of ground-borne vibrations to assess and mitigate the effects of any activity on sensitive receptors such as businesses, schools, hospitals and homeowners. This can assist clients with ensuring that their work is not causing issues with disturbance or damage and that they are performing within legal requirements.

Quality assurance for NDT’s UK operation is maintained via an externally audited system to BS EN ISO 9001:2015.

Some of NDT’s clients are AARSLEFF, Central Piling, Foundation Piling, JM Piling (Murphy), KELLER, Rock & Alluvium, with prestigious projects including various Airbus UK facilities, London Olympic Park, Wembley Stadium, the new Everton stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.
