Nature Positive, formed in 2020 by RSK Biocensus and based in Bath, UK, is a unique management consultancy consisting of environmental, sustainability and business specialists. It works with business and investment leaders in various sectors to manage risk, leverage sustainability as a competitive edge and help their organisations both achieve net zero and become nature positive.

Nature Positive’s work with clients is aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). Although designed to be used at the country level, the SDGs can be applied to businesses or investor portfolios. By selecting the right targets and indicators and understanding how the goals are interrelated, businesses can build from a base of environmental issues, particularly goals 14 (life below water) and 15 (life on land), that demonstrate the fundamental role of the biosphere.

Nature Positive can provide a range of expert services to inform investor decision-making at any stage, from high-level screening of options to due diligence, enabling businesses to align their aims and goals with becoming nature positive. Sector risk profiles can be undertaken to provide advice on the changing sustainability risks of different business sectors based on their dependence and impacts on the natural environment, as well as subsequent opportunity analysis and value creation opportunities and risk assessment.

In-depth analysis and assessments of individual or multiple businesses’ operations can be provided to identify specific sustainability risks that relate to an organisation and its supply chain. Biodiversity assessments can be used to assess operations and highlight their impact on nature. Advice on ratings is also provided on increasingly critical biodiversity impacts and dependencies.

Due diligence and transaction support is provided via risk registers, advice on key issues and support in achieving International Finance Corporation Performance Standard 6 and World Bank ESS6.

Nature Positive works in a wide variety of sectors, such as agriculture, chemicals, construction, logistics, freight and shipping and mining, as well as with financial institutions, to enable the disclosure and response to risks and opportunities in line with guidance from the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD).

Nature Positive can assist businesses in many ways, such as by providing expertise on sustainability strategies and actions plans, transformation and change management, due diligence and screening, baseline biodiversity assessments, supply chain risk assessments, carbon footprinting, practical mitigation, compensation and offsetting, as well as offering advice on sustainability ambition and vision, carbon and sustainability, monitoring and reporting and nature risk disclosure. Its SDG IQ Tool is available to help businesses understand how they are performing against the SDGs.
