Crowders Nurseries is able to provide a full native forestry and hedging range of products in all available provenances from UK-certified, traceable seed sources. From small landscaping needs to large-scale woodland projects, it has extensive experience in supplying high-quality, certified hedging and forest trees, whether it’s for wildlife, ecological protection or future timber production. It can also carry out contract growing of collected seed from a specific area.

A full range of herbaceous and perennial product solutions are available, from small ornamental grasses to instant impact planting material. Its experienced production team monitors the latest trends in the landscaping industry to ensure stock always includes the most popular varieties, available at the right time of year for planting. As the majority of planting is done at its own production base to exacting biosecurity standards, Crowders is able to fully safeguard against pests and disease.

A wide range of ornamental shrubs is offered from its main nursery site in Horncastle. Skilled production staff are able to propagate over two-thirds of stock from in-house cuttings, ensuring control of planting material through the entire growing process.

Instant hedging and screening solutions are provided as solutions for high-end residential schemes, which can be used to immediately create natural screening.

By utilising scaled production and infrastructure facilities and skilled staff, Crowders is able to grow a full range of trees, from small transplants to feathered trees. These can be supplied as seedlings up to large girth trees. It can offer stock in a wide range of specifications, grown from UK-certified seed with full traceability. Rootball trees can be supplied via specialist machinery to lift trees with the soil contained around the roots, which are wrapped in hessian and secured in a wire basket, both of which will decompose once planted. This helps to minimise stress during transportation, keeps the majority of vital fibrous roots intact and contains moisture.

Crowders Nurseries has close partnerships with local distribution companies, which are all well equipped to deal with the unique challenges presented when transporting planting material. From a single pallet all the way up to a full 13.5 m trailer, deliveries can be made to Ireland, the Channel Islands and further afield in Western Europe.

Crowders Nurseries has been involved with prestigious events such as the London 2012 Olympic Games and has supplied HS2 (7 million trees), EDF Energy (13,000 trees) and the Woodland Trust (2.2 million trees) over long-term, advance grow contracts.
