Central Alliance
Central Alliance, founded in 2006 and with its head office in Wakefield in the UK, is a ground engineering technical services business providing site investigation, surveying, instrumentation, monitoring and technology-led solutions alongside innovative remedial techniques for slope stabilisation and dewatering.
It provides ground engineering technical services to infrastructure organisations, asset owners, utility and energy companies, mining companies, government, consultants and construction projects both in the UK and worldwide.
The companyβs ground investigation services include all aspects of drilling, in situ testing, monitoring, reporting and laboratory testing. Central Alliance owns and operates a full range of drilling rigs, encompassing multipurpose rotary, cable percussion, dynamic sampling and cone penetration testing (CPT) rigs. It also specialises in delivering ground investigations on slopes and for restricted access sites, utilising slope climbing and bespoke drilling rigs.
The geotechnical team offers environmental and geotechnical site appraisal and ground risk identification, risk assessments, ground scoping, interpretation and evaluation of ground investigation information and reporting. Reporting provides essential information in relation to issues such as contamination and soil waste classification and data for considerations such as foundation assessments and subbase recommendations, as well as the suitability of the soil for earthworks and soil classification.
Central Alliance has a team of skilled survey and geomatics professionals that provides a wide range of services, such as topographical and utility surveys; laser scanning; mobile mapping; aerial surveys; measured building surveys; drainage surveys; rail and track surveys; precise levelling and monitoring; bathymetric surveys; computer-aided design (CAD) and modelling; and setting out surveys for construction projects.
Its applied technologies division draws upon the extensive experience within the organisation, the latest technology and leading academic research to find solutions to industry challenges and problems. The team is both an early adopter and developer of technology and can offer solutions such as continuous surface wave (CSW) testing, muon tomography, geographic information system (GIS) analysis and remote sensing.
Sight Automation is a division of Central Alliance and offers instrumentation and monitoring (I&M) services, enabling clients to maximise their assets against the backdrop of constrained resources and budgets. Sight Automation focuses on automated remote monitoring solutions and making remote monitoring of sites more sustainable and affordable. A wide range of geotechnical, structural and environmental monitoring can be installed with a bespoke monitoring portal to provide real-time data, with alerts and notifications to suit clientsβ requirements.
Central Alliance is a Railway Industry Supplier Qualification Scheme (RISQS)-accredited supplier and has a dedicated rail division with a wide range of experience working within the rail sector. The company manages the RSK Principal Contractor Licence and has expertise in safe work planning and project management and providing safety-critical staff.
Some of Central Allianceβs clients include Network Rail, Aarsleff, National Highways, Rio Tinto, Associated British Ports, the Welsh Government, J. Murphy & Sons, AmcoGiffen, BAM and Morgan Sindall.
