BTW Company is a New-Zealand-based multidisciplinary consultancy that provides surveying, engineering, planning, environmental science and geospatial services to clients across New Zealand. Founded in 1973 and operating from five North Island offices in New Plymouth, Hamilton, Taupō, Taumarunui and Raglan, BTW combines local knowledge with technical expertise to support projects nationwide.

The company works across a range of sectors, including water, infrastructure, energy, land development, local government and Māori land and assets. Its multidisciplinary approach enables clients to access a broad range of specialist services through a single integrated team, helping to streamline project delivery and improve outcomes. BTW supports projects of all sizes, from local community initiatives through to large-scale infrastructure and development programmes.

BTW provides civil, structural and geotechnical engineering services, alongside surveying, planning and resource management expertise. The business also offers environmental science services that help clients understand and manage environmental considerations throughout the project life cycle. These capabilities are supported by advanced geospatial solutions, including geographic information systems (GIS), light detection and ranging (lidar), building information modelling (BIM), remote sensing and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technologies.

A key area of expertise is digital asset intelligence and water infrastructure management. BTW developed Wai-eye, an integrated three-waters asset assessment programme that combines UAV technology, lidar, environmental monitoring and geospatial analysis to provide asset owners with detailed infrastructure insights that support informed decision-making and long-term planning.

The company’s work is underpinned by ISO-certified quality and health and safety management systems, as well as Toitū Envirocare Gold certification. BTW is guided by the values of whanaungatanga (connection), kaitiakitanga (guardianship) and mātauranga (knowledge), reflecting its commitment to working collaboratively with clients, communities, iwi and stakeholders to deliver outcomes that are sustainable, practical and beneficial for future generations.
