In October 2018, RSK acquired CAN, a UK geotechnical engineering and access contractor that undertakes large-scale ground stabilisation and specialist access projects. The Geotechnical engineering division of CAN undertakes soil slope and rock face stabilisation, installation of rockfall protection measures, construction of retaining walls, sprayed concrete and structural reinforcement drilling and grouting. The company’s structures division also offers structural repairs, construction support, inspection, testing and maintenance, blasting, painting, rigging and lifting at height. These works are supported by rope access and confined space expertise and often include bespoke access solutions.

CAN’s large fleet of bespoke drilling and access plant and facilities for design, manufacture, modification and repair directly benefits RSK’s ground investigation businesses for modifying, servicing and repairing rigs, and for developing bespoke solutions for difficult access projects. The acquisition brought together RSK’s strengths in the early investigation and design stage of projects with CAN’s track record in delivering construction build solutions across a wide range of sectors.
