RSK was established in Aberdeen in 1989 when Chief Executive Alan Ryder set up the business to provide environmental consultancy services to multinational energy companies. Now, offering a huge range of essential environmental and engineering services, RSK is one of the largest privately owned companies in the UK.

In recognition of its heritage, RSK has its head office in Helsby, Cheshire, a village in the North West of England, which has remained home to the group’s headquarters for more than 30 years.

RSK’s 2030 Global Growth Strategy outlines significant opportunities across all RSK regions, both organic and acquisition led. While the intent is strongly anchored in global growth, the group continues to see significant potential for further UK acquisitions.

The RSK UK region accounts for the majority of the group’s businesses, with these companies comprehensively supporting the group commitment to be a global leader in the delivery of environmental and engineering solutions.

RSK employs more than 10,000 people in the UK, including consultants, engineers, scientists and innovators. Experts are based in more than 300 offices across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, providing clients with a strong combination of local expertise and national coverage.

The considerable list of UK businesses demonstrates the group’s integrated offering across research and development, consultancy and on-the-ground application. It is inclusive of most sectors of the economy, including many of those most critical to future global environmental sustainability, such as water, energy, food and drink, infrastructure, urban development, mining and waste.

Notable are those businesses that serve the UK’s water sector, where RSK’s extensive knowledge and expertise encompass end-to-end water resource and infrastructure solutions designed to meet today’s critical environmental and operational challenges.

In addition to its commanding position in the water sector, RSK is the UK market leader in environmental and ground investigation consulting and engineering contracting, with a growing influence across the energy transition and infrastructure markets, including road and rail, and the wider built and natural environment.

Together, its experts deliver an unrivalled breadth and depth of environmental and engineering services in the UK, either as stand-alone projects or large multidisciplinary solutions.
