RSK in Latin America
RSK recognises the substantial opportunities in Latin America, driven by the region’s sustainability agenda and a desire to improve people’s lives. As a global leader in environmental and engineering solutions, RSK has the capability to deliver high-quality and sustainable outcomes for businesses and people in the region.
The mining sector is of significant global importance and is a key economic driver in the Latin American region. Chile and Peru’s extraction of lithium and copper ranks them among the highest producers in the world for metals and minerals, and this is an essential part of these countries’ economies. RSK already plays a role in ensuring that these mining sites, whether open-pit or underground, are continually operated with proactive measures in place for the sustainable maintenance of water systems, including water resource studies and water–mining components interaction. For example, we conducted hydrogeological and geochemical studies to support the environmental impact assessment for the Collahuasi Phase III mine expansion in Chile’s Tarapacá region. Our services in the mining sector also include acid rock drainage, metal leaching, waste monitoring, contamination prevention, pollution management, site stability ground works, permits and procedures and mine closure.
Advancing sustainability and infrastructure
From our bases in Santiago, Chile, and Lima, Peru, we have developed strong local partnerships and we continue to broaden our presence throughout the region to address environmental challenges, improve infrastructure resilience and make a positive difference in the communities where we work. We have supported major infrastructure projects, such as the Lima and Callao Metro, where our teams of experts managed all aspects related to groundwater extraction and management throughout the construction of lines 2 and 4, which will connect Peru’s capital with its main seaport.
RSK aims to expand its presence in the mining, infrastructure, energy transition and water sectors, while contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to help create a resilient, future-ready Latin America.
