A 2019 International Energy Agency report offers a glimpse into a future dominated by clean energy. It suggest that erecting wind turbines on the world’s best offshore sites could provide more than enough clean energy to meet global electricity demand. RSK is a great believer in renewable energy, particularly wind farms, and has worked with Electrawinds, a Belgian renewable energy company, to realise its energy projects in Europe and South Africa.
Electrawinds commissioned RSK to review and provide its expert opinion regarding locally prepared environmental impact assessments for three Romanian wind farms to be developed and managed as a single facility. Our regionally placed specialists reviewed the assessments to ensure compliance with the financial institutions’ performance requirements. We were also responsible for managing additional bird and bat surveys, which aimed to provide a baseline census of the bird and bat populations in the proposed project area and, where possible, to provide a quantitative assessment of the species.
In 2013, Electrawinds sought our expert opinion on another wind farm project. Specifically, we were tasked with supplying our advice concerning the status of the project, particularly to ensure the strengthen the environmental dossier for financing the project.
