Avant Homes prioritises health and safety amid COVID-19 pandemic
COVID-19 has changed life as we know it. In a matter of months, the virus spread to nearly every country in the world, thereby creating not only a public health emergency but also an economic crisis. At the outset of the pandemic several clients asked if we could help, so RSK Response quickly mobilised regional teams to carry out decontamination and protection in workplaces.
Avant Homes is one of the UKโs leading privately owned housebuilders with 52 sites throughout the Midlands, Yorkshire, the North East and Scotland. Recognising the need to keep their employees, clients and the wider public safe, Avant Homes commissioned RSK Response to carry out cleaning, decontamination and protection works across their properties. These included construction sites comprising of portacabins, offices, canteens, meeting rooms, storage and drying rooms, and welfare facilities; equipment such as forklifts; show homes; sales units; and offices.
Unlike conventional deep-cleaning practices, RSKโs coronavirus decontamination and protection service utilises novel sanitising products not only to destroy pathogens on contact, but also to protect surfaces from coronavirus for up to 30 days post-treatment. This provides additional reassurance for anyone entering the workplace.
We were set ambitious timescales to complete the work but, because of our large network of offices and specialists, we rapidly deployed our teams and finished all the sites on time. On completion, each site was issued a certificate and a full report.
Prudent measures, including decontamination and protection, will not only help to protect the workforce at Avant Homes; they will help to build confidence in the construction sector at a crucial time.
