Structural Soils (an RSK company) has carried out in-situ testing for as long as it has been involved in laboratory testing. However, over the last few years it has grown its service offerings, geographical coverage and staff numbers considerably. It now employs technicians in the South East (Tonbridge) and Scotland (Glasgow) and continues to grow in Bristol, Castleford and Hemel Hempstead.
Alongside this expansion, the team has also been working hard to receive UKAS accreditation for its in-situ testing services.
“In 2016, we gained our first UKAS accreditation for California bearing ratio testing,” explains Structural Soils site testing manager Sam Handcock. “So far in 2017 we’ve added plate bearing, sand replacement, core cutter and nuclear density testing to the accredited laboratory testing scope. This has taken a lot of hard work over the last few years.
“We’ve also recently brought a lightweight deflectometer, which is part of our plans to expand our in-situ testing scope and resources. We’re confident that the recent accreditations and additional resources will add to our reputation as a top-level services provider.”
