RSK employees in Helsby and Tattenhall, UK, have been busy elves this festive season having donated three bags of gifts to the Christmas Toy Appeal in nearby Warrington, on behalf of RSK. The eighth annual Christmas Toy Appeal is organised by the Neighbourhoods in Warrington community scheme, in partnership with the Central 6 Community Forum, to ensure that every child in the local area receives a gift at Christmas.
Last year, the community appeal managed to provide over 500 local children with presents during the festive season. This year, more than ever, the appeal aims to ensure that no child in the community goes without a Christmas gift as a result of financial crisis in their family. They do this by accepting donations of new toys, books, gift vouchers, sweets, chocolates and toiletries from generous individuals and organisations in the local area.
Having donated to the appeal last year, the local RSK offices once again got involved with employees buying a few extra toys, books, gift vouchers and sweets while doing their Christmas shopping. Lisa Smith, who organised the collection with fellow Helsby Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability representative Sue Phelan, was delighted to be able to drop off the RSK donations on 27 November.
Lisa said: “The Christmas Toy Appeal team were really chuffed with the items and they now have the huge task of wrapping and distributing all the donations to over 500 families in Warrington. Thank you to everyone that donated gifts. It is very much appreciated, even more so this year. Hopefully it will make this Christmas a little brighter.”
