Structural Soils Ltd, an RSK group company, has been expanding the geotechnical testing services offered to its clients. First, by increasing the testing capacity of its geotechnical laboratories and site testing teams and second, by acquiring new technology for testing on- and offshore samples from the UK and abroad.
The new site- and lab-based equipment will enable: in-situ thermal resistivity testing; in-situ soil stiffness measurements; one-dimensional consolidation testing of soil up to 50 MPa; static and cyclic direct simple shear testing of soil; triaxial isotropic or anisotropic consolidation and compression or extension testing of soil; load- or strain-controlled cyclic loading of soil; shear-wave velocity and modulus measurements in soil; resonance and torsional shear testing of soil; and closed-loop load- or displacement-controlled uniaxial or triaxial testing of rocks.
“The new equipment will enable the business to offer a novel and varied range of testing services for our clients,” said Structural Soils Director Dimitris Xirouchakis. “Not only can we offer our geoenvironmental and geotechnical expertise, but now we are also able to provide diverse in-situ and laboratory testing too.”
