With extensive experience in the construction and housing sectors, Darren is a leading expert on the challenges of making building renovations meet legislative, funding and sustainability obligations, and regulatory compliance. Darren joins RSK from E.ON, where he worked as the national business development and contracts manager managing the business development, pre-contract and post-contract teams to ensure efficient end-to-end delivery of projects from conception to completion. At E.ON, he defined the business strategy for its installation services, which resulted in a focus on medium-to-large-scale, energy efficiency, refurbishment schemes for local authorities and social housing providers.

Darren has worked in the refurbishment sector for the past 20 years advising clients and their construction teams on best practice and helping to deliver system solutions that cut energy usage, reduce fuel poverty and improve building aesthetics. During that time, he focused on all aspects of domestic energy efficiency, including retrofitted insulation, traditional heating systems and renewable heating technologies such as air and ground source heat pumps, biomass boilers, solar photovoltaic cells and battery storage.

He has spoken at many international summits and major national conferences on topics concerning energy efficiency and refurbishment. This included speeches at the prestigious John Connell Awards in the House of Commons and at the International Conference on Energy Efficiency in Historic Buildings, plus the keynote speech for the Fire Protection Association in 2013. A graduate in geology from Cardiff University, UK, Darren also holds a master’s degree in palynology from Sheffield University, UK.

“I’m extremely excited to join RSK and to help develop what I believe to be a fantastic opportunity in the renewable heating sector,” Darren said. “Having worked closely with various parts of the RSK group over the last two and a half years, I already feel part of the RSK family and look forward to meeting more of my new colleagues in the not-too-distant future.”
