RSK shortlisted for the Brownfield Awards 2021

August 17, 2021

RSK has been shortlisted in three categories at this year’s Brownfield Awards. Each year, the Brownfield Awards bring together specialists and industry professionals from across the environmental sector to recognise and celebrate the achievements of both individuals and organisations. The awards aim to recognise “the use of innovative techniques, awareness of sustainability, engagement of stakeholders and demonstration of best practice” in the industry and will be held on 14 October 2021, when the winners of the 15 categories will be announced.

This year, RSK is nominated for three awards that recognise the work carried out by its teams over the past year. The RSK Geosciences team is nominated in the Best Biodiversity Enhancement category for its work in collaboration with Synthomer Plc, Gleeson Homes and Buckingham Group Contracting on the Hapton Landfill Restoration project. This award recognises those projects that show a “respect for local ecosystems” and “long term planning to enhance biodiversity and amenity value”.

RSK is also nominated for a collaborative project in the Best Industry Innovation/Adaptation to Covid-19 category for its entry titled “Covid-19: Dedication, Collaboration and Innovation to Keep Sites Open”, a project carried out alongside Wood, National Grid and Erith. This particular award will be given to the team that has developed “innovative solutions” in response to the challenges of the past eighteen months, enabling safe working on site and effective remote working where needed. Lastly, RSK is nominated in the Best International Project category for its work on the Technology Transfer and Export of Remediation Knowledge to Africa project. Recognising “excellence in any aspect of brownfield remediation or development”, this award is given to organisations anywhere for projects outside the UK, in this case for RSK’s work in Africa.

The awards will be presented to the project and team that the panel of industry professionals deems best demonstrates “notable innovation”, “real environmental/economic/social benefit” and “a robust, sustainable” solution to the challenges of the nominated project. This year’s awards ceremony will be held virtually.

Congratulations to the RSK teams nominated at this year’s awards.
