RSK joins Clean Energy Council to help accelerate Australia's energy transformation

RSK Group is adding its global renewable energy experience to Australia’s Clean Energy Council and plans to be an active member, contributing to the work being carried out to realise the country’s clean energy ambitions.

RSK Group Board Member and Divisional Director for RSK Australia Mark Haydock said: “I recently attended the Clean Energy Council’s Australian Clean Energy Summit, and it was clear that it was the right place to be, owing to the breadth of sector leaders, thought-provoking content and genuine commitment from everyone to pool talent and resources to achieve our goals for the benefit of the country.

“We are looking forward to RSK Australia being a leading voice on the Clean Energy Council and influencing the energy agenda during this important transition for the country.”

RSK Australia Executive Director for Energy Transformation Kate Gilchrist said Australia had legislated emissions reduction targets of 43% by 2030 and net zero by 2050, with 82% of electricity to be supplied from renewable sources by 2030. The Australian electricity network is undergoing a significant transformation with the shift from coal to renewable sources, increased demand and a network that facilitates two-way flow of electricity across communities.

Kate said: “We are all energy end users – whether its individuals, communities, businesses, buyers, generators or government – so we all have an interest in getting the energy transformation right.

“RSK Australia’s energy strategy has been designed to help support this intent, and we are proud of our vision to be leading Australia’s sustainable energy future. It is also important that the strategy supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 7 – affordable and clean energy.”

Looking at the opportunities Clean Energy Council membership offers, Kate said RSK Australia had been attracted to the strong purpose behind the council’s mission and objectives. This includes:

• working with industry to continually improve standards and maintain integrity
• decarbonising the economy
• providing services and initiatives to members and the wider industry that help grow the sector.
