We are pleased to announce that RSK’s East African business has achieved registration with the National Environment Management Council (NEMC) to undertake environmental and social impact assessments (ESIA) and environmental audits (EA) in Tanzania. Adding to this success, RSK employees Linda Kavishe and Teddy Kanjongo have also received NEMC registration this year, thus bringing RSK’s total in-house NEMC-registered and certified experts to four.
The NEMC oversees environmental management in Tanzania and releases a list of individuals and firms certified to undertake ESIA and EA work for development projects on the Tanzanian mainland. RSK is one of only 11 newly registered firms certified to undertake ESIAs this year, and one of five certified to undertake EAs, out of hundreds of applications. Meanwhile, Linda and Teddy made the list of only 62 newly registered experts countrywide out of thousands of applications. The application process involved the submission of past project experience, CVs, academic certificates, referee recommendations and numerous other documents, and took almost a year.

“This is extremely good news and is a great step in the business development of RSK’s work in Tanzania,” comments Edward Ezekiel, RSK’s Environmental Manager in Tanzania. “We now have four NEMC-certified environmental experts and company certification to compete for ESIAs and audits, which should boost our sales in Tanzania.”
