After four weeks of stepping, lunchtime walks, steps with pets and getting off the bus a stop earlier, RSK employees have finally crossed the Pedometer Challenge finish line! We are delighted to announce that across the four-week challenge, held between 1 and 30 May, participants clocked up an incredible 224,091,659 steps: that’s equivalent to 4309 marathons! As well as beating our target of 223 million steps, we have raised an amazing £1040 for RSK’s chosen charity, Mind!
Now in its fifth year, the Pedometer Challenge invites employees from every RSK business to see how many steps they can clock up across a four-week period. This year, we had a record number of people taking part across the world in our solo stepper, team trekker and family footstepper categories. Entering individually or in teams with colleagues or family members and friends, participants had to work together to try to beat our previous group total of 223 million steps, which was based on the total achieved in the fourth RSK Pedometer Challenge in 2019, while competing for some all-important prizes.
Prizes were awarded for the top-stepping team and individual, the top stepping families, the best photos and the best team names.
As well as encouraging our colleagues to be more active, to focus on their health and well-being and to incorporate general exercise into their daily routines, this year’s challenge also proved a great way to bring our teams, businesses, and the group together.
Congratulations to all the winners and to everyone who took part – it certainly put us through our paces!
