October 25, 2021

RSK company CR Civil Engineering won the Social Commitment Award at the recent East Midlands Chamber’s Enterprising Women Awards 2021, held on Friday, 08 October. The award “is open to professionals who demonstrate an innovative and proactive approach to corporate social responsibility and responsible business practices”. CR Civil Engineering nominated Melanie Heath, Business Director, for the award. By making it to the final and subsequently winning, Melanie demonstrated how she and the company have tackled key social and environmental issues and have positively affected the local community. An East Midlands Chamber representative congratulated the team on its win: “Congratulations to all the winners and finalists. We received our highest number of applications, so the standard was exceptionally high this year!

CR Civil Engineering was nominated alongside Bodie Hodges Foundation, Cross Productions, Halo Recruit and Hot House Music. Mel has devoted her time and resources to tackling social and environmental issues to make a positive impact on employees, families, friends and local communities. Since 2015, Mel has directed the company’s corporate social responsibility expenditure, investing money through corresponding schemes, charity donations and sponsorships, totalling an impressive £360,000. Mel has encouraged gender equality and has supported various communities and charities.

Carl Roberts, CR Civil Engineering Managing Director, was thrilled at the achievement and paid tribute to the company’s ethics and employees, saying, “We are delighted to win an Enterprising Women Award. As a company, we have always tried to make positive impacts on our employees and local communities through donations, fundraising, workplace contributions and career assistance, mentoring and promoting in local schools and communities. The team, specifically Melanie, really deserves this recognition. She always works hard to give something back. It is wonderful that the efforts of our team have been recognised by East Midlands Chamber’s Enterprising Women Awards 2021.”
