Corporate Financier has ranked RSK the third-most acquisitive company in the UK after its strong acquisition activity in 2019, which saw 12 new companies join the group. Corporate Financier reports 14 acquisitions (including three consultancies under the Pellings umbrella) but omits RSK Raw and recent acquisitions ATP and Silcock Leedham Group (both acquired at the end of 2019).
“Acquisitions last year brought additional expertise in areas such as geotechnical and structural engineering, habitat management and ecological contracting,” the magazine reports. “In addition to 12 UK acquisitions, RSK bought businesses in Germany and the Netherlands.”
This growth supports RSK’s “ambition to double in size” over the next few years”, and this is reflected in the finances: “pro-forma revenue grew by 71% to £250m in 2018/19, while EBITDA is expected to come in at £25m”.
RSK is investing in developing its new businesses, bolt-on complementary businesses, equipment and its capabilities for expanding its services internationally. To date, we have acquired 31 businesses since 2016, including nine so far in the 2019/2020 financial year. The latest was river restoration and erosion control specialists, Salix, earlier this month.
