Pedometer Challenge 2022 concludes a success

Published on June 27, 2022

RSK’s annual Pedometer Challenge came to an end on Tuesday 31 May after a month of stepping adventures. This year, more colleagues than ever took part in our steps challenge, getting out and active throughout May.

Record numbers took on the Pedometer Challenge this year, with 1449 colleagues across the RSK family of businesses participating as Solo Steppers, Team Trekkers and Family Footsteppers. Together, you walked an impressive 332,268,416 steps!

This record-breaking steps total means more of our colleagues have got up and active – walking, running and hiking their way towards better physical and mental health. Walking with friends, family and colleagues is a great means to take exercise during the day and reconnect with those around us.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have introduced a new Family Footsteppers category to our Pedometer Challenge. This encourages colleagues and their families to take part in the challenge, so the whole family enjoys the outdoors together. Whether as a Solo Stepper or part of a team, our 1449 participants have walked an impressive number of steps all while raising money for MIND, RSK’s chosen charity for 2022.

This year, we have raised an incredible £1500 for MIND! As we continue through the year, we hope to raise more money in support of the vital work of this charity. MIND was chosen by colleagues across the family of businesses and reflects our commitment to supporting the wellbeing of our colleagues.

We recently spoke to Erica Walther about how cultural heritage and archaeology are key to offshore development.

Sea Country is a growing field for offshore developers, but many are finding it tricky to navigate evolving legal framework and government policy.

Erica from RSK Group company Extent Heritage, said:

“There are substantial potential archaeological and educational benefits in exploring Sea Country to find out more about the landscapes and seascapes that have significance, and tie back into the Dreaming story.”

RSK Group company 1stinrail has recently completed extensive track replacement work on the Keadby Drawbridge. 🌉

Project Manager Ryan Hughes said: “This was a fascinating project to be a part of due to the unique design of the drawbridge and the fact that it is one the busiest routes for freight trains in the UK.

The drawbridge dates back to the 1860s and was converted into a sliding bridge in 1925.”
