The UK government has set a target of being net zero by 2050. Of total emissions, 20% are released from domestic properties, which means that social housing landlords and local authorities with housing stock in particular are now faced with the challenge of how to decarbonise their housing portfolios. The process of ‘retrofit’ under the PAS 2035 standard will be discussed, along with our experience of some of the challenges faced by those in the sector, including supply chain challenges and opportunities. PAS 2035 is an approach to the installation of energy efficiency measures that takes into account the requirements of the entire building from a technical standpoint and also considers factors such as occupancy comfort.
