A professional accreditation scheme to recognise the competency and experience of gas-protection-system verifiers has recently been launched in the UK. Administered by CL:AIRE and backed by RSK Geosciences, the scheme aims to raise industry standards and to provide a route for professionals to demonstrate their competence in inspecting gas membranes and designing verification protocols.
When constructing new developments, local planning authorities, warranty providers and future house purchasers need independent assurance that the development is safe from any ground-gas risks. With a detailed knowledge of ground gas, gas protection measures and the construction process, RSK Geosciences has developed a range of independent services for integrity testing and gas protection system verification.
RSK was commissioned to prepare an environmental impact assessment (EIA) study for the Al Reef residential development, Abu Dhabi (UAE). It was also asked to undertake environmental baseline surveys, including air quality monitoring, noise monitoring, soil and groundwater monitoring and terrestrial ecology survey.
Cognica, a leading provider of intelligent information management solutions and services to the construction and estate management markets, joined the RSK group in August 2020.
