Leading sustainable change since 1989

RSK Group was founded by our Chief Executive Officer Alan Ryder in 1989, with the business originally focused on providing environmental consultancy services to global energy clients. Since then, Alan has continued to lead the business with the same set of principles influencing every decision along the way.

Over the years, RSK has significantly diversified, establishing operations around the world and delivering an unrivalled breadth and depth of environmental and engineering services.

We recognise the urgent need for sustainable change and know that this will be achieved through action, not just words. We are committed to supporting clients and societies around the world navigate these complex challenges while delivering positive impact.

Our nine guiding principles

Established more than 35 years ago, our nine guiding principles have influenced every key decision made in the business. They serve as a clear blueprint for the themes we believe are critical to our long-term success and they continue to guide our strategy and future business growth.

Growth with integrity

The business has executed one of the most successful buy and build strategies in the environmental services sector, bringing together more than 200 businesses and more than 17,000 talented employees.

RSK’s 35-year track record of success has been achieved through a relentless determination to preserve the culture that has made RSK stand out from its peers: putting people first, empowering colleagues at all levels of the organisation and actively avoiding corporate bureaucracy.

It is this culture that has gained RSK a reputation as being a β€˜magnet for entrepreneurs’, with business leaders regularly approaching the group to explore whether they can join it.

The future of RSK

Our story is not yet complete. We are very much aware of increasing market opportunity, driven by environmental, social and governance (ESG) regulation and stakeholder pressure for companies and governments to apply the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

Recognising these opportunities, in 2023 we launched our 2030 Global Growth Strategy, and in 2024 we secured the financial backing needed to bring this to life. Articulated in this strategy, RSK will quadruple in size by 2030, employing some 40,000 people while generating annual revenues of more than Β£5 billion and EBITDA of over Β£600 million.

RSK is set to be one of the largest privately owned businesses in the UK and remains committed to retaining the spirit that has been so fundamental to its success to date.
